Ben McCarthy
Growing up, I worked every Thursday night with my father at his sporting goods store in Pittsburgh, PA. As an 8 year old visual merchandiser, I was tasked with stocking the fishing gear, the worms (both rubber and real), and pulling outfits for the two window mannequins — My love for telling stories with products began early. I would rearrange a few items and watch customers come in and make purchases. I was obsessed with the customer reaction to my tables full of fishing essentials. Later, I became involved in theater, focusing more on set design and finding the perfect props. These early experiences laid the groundwork for a career in visual design and product storytelling.
Fast forward, as the Director of Visual Merchandising & Store Design at Casper, I lead a team of talented professionals to create engaging and effective retail displays that enhance customer experience and drive sales. With over 15 years of experience in the retail industry, I have developed the ability to leverage trends and a deep understanding of consumer behavior.
My career journey has taken me through various roles in visual merchandising and store design, from New Store Opening Manager at Anthropologie to Sr Manager Visual Merchandising, Home + Beauty. I have successfully managed multiple projects, from concept to execution, across different product categories and store formats. I am passionate about creating immersive and memorable shopping experiences that reflect the brand's vision and values.
